George Washington 6, Delaware 5 April 2, 2002 Colonials avenge earlier loss to Blue Hens Casey Fahy scored and knocked in a run while also stealing two bases ARLINGTON, VA -- Junior second baseman Chris Barry laced a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Jake Wald with the go-ahead run, lifting George Washington University past the University of Delaware 6-5 in non-conference baseball action at Barcroft Park Tuesday afternoon. Delaware (13-12) exploded for five runs in the second inning, but were shut down by four Colonial relief pitchers who allowed just five hits and held the Blue Hens scoreless over the final seven innings of the game. Casey Fahy (Clayton, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) both scored and knocked in a run as he went 2-for-4 with a double and two stolen bases, while John Schneider (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) and Steve Van Note (Brigantine, NJ/Atlantic City) each scored a run and recorded a pair of hits each for Delaware. Chris Barry, who knocked in the winning-run, batted 2-for-3 with three RBI and Matt Krimmel hit his fourth home season going 3-for-5 at the plate for the Colonials (15-12), who avenged a 6-1 defeat to the Blue Hens at Bob Hannah Stadium back on March 19. Delaware starting pitcher Mike Mihalik (Allentown, PA/Parkland) suffered his third loss of the season as he went seven innings giving up six runs, 10 hits, and walking five. Greg Conden was credited with the victory, his fifth of the season, as Conden, Justin Orenduff, and Mike O'Connor each pitch a perfect inning in relief for the Colonials. The Blue Hens will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they take on Saint Joseph's University at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia in the semi-final round of the Liberty Bell Classic beginning at 3 p.m. The winner of this game will advance to the tournament's championship game to face Temple University, who topped Drexel University Tuesday by a score of 3-0.
