Delaware 15, Hofstra 9 May 5, 2002 Blue Hens Out-Slug Pride to Complete Series Sweep Steve Harden capped off a torrid series going 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBI  NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware scored eight runs over the sixth and seventh innings to pull away from Hofstra University and win 15-9 completing a sweep of the three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Bob Hannah Stadium Sunday afternoon. With the game tied at two runs a piece, Delaware (32-17, 12-4 CAA) took a commanding lead in the fourth inning as Steve Harden (Wilmington, DE/Dickinson) capped off a five run rally with a three-run home run, becoming the seventh Blue Hen to record seven home runs on the season. But the five-run advantage would be short-lived as Hofstra (10-36, 2-16 CAA) struck back in the sixth inning rattling off six consecutive singles in a six run spurt that gave the Pride their first lead over the last 18 innings of the series. The see-saw battle swung right back in Delaware's favor as Mark Michael (Gibbstown, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) led-off the bottom half of the sixth inning with a bloop double to rightfield, then scored two batters later on a double by Harden. Reid Gorecki (East Rockaway, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) then put the Blue Hens back in the lead hitting a two-run home run and Delaware would tack on two more runs later that inning and three runs in the seventh to distance themselves and clinch the victory. Gorecki added two triples to go with his 10th home run of the season, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, while Harden came a triple short of hitting for the cycle, adding four RBI and three runs scored to go 3-for-4 on the game, finishing the series 6-for 10 with two home runs, six RBI, and six runs scored. Jeff Alwine led a Hofstra lineup that banged out 19 singles by recording four of his own, and Eric Creaney hit the team's only extra-base hit of the game, adding a double to go along with his two singles. Brian Hillmann batted 2-for-4 with two RBI, to run his averge to .667 (8-for12) in the three-game set.
