Delaware 12, James Madison 7 March 29, 2002 Blue Hens Victorious in CAA Baseball Debut John Schneider bated 3 for 4 with 2 2B's and 3 RBI HARRISONBURG, VA -- The University of Delaware baseball team made its Colonial Athletic Association debut with a 12-7 victory over host James Madison University Friday afternoon in the conference opener at Mauck Stadium. The Dukes (19-7) jumped out to a two-run advantage in the first inning, but Delaware answered right back as junior co-captain John Schneider (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) sparked a three-run second inning with an RBI double, on which he would later score giving the Blue Hens a 3-2 lead. From there the Blue Hens (13-10) never looked back, scoring two more runs in the fourth inning, and exploding for five more runsin the fifth. Delaware staring pitcher Jason Vincent (Seaford, DE/Seaford) recorded his fourth straight victory going seven innings, while giving up seven runs on nine hits and striking out seven. Freshman Jason Rogers (New Castle, DE/William Penn) worked the final two innings in relief, yielding just one hit and one walk while striking out two. JMU was led by Mitch Rigsby who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored, and Brent Metheny who chipped in with three hits own. Dukes pitcher Kurt Isenberg, who entered the games with a league-leading 1.08 ERA, suffered his first loss of the season surrendering 11 earned runs on 15 hits. The two teams will play the second game of the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. Probable starting pitchers will be right-hander Rich McGuire (2-2) for the Blue Hens, and right-hander Chris Cochran (3-1) for the Dukes.    Univ. of Delaware vs James Madison Univ.
