#14 Oklahoma St. 6, Delaware 4 February 24, 2002 Blue Hens Unable to Overcome Early Scoring Burst Mark Michael hits his first HR as a Blue Hen SHREVEPORT, LA -- Nebasett Brown hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning setting the tone in a 6-4 Oklahoma State University victory over the University of Delaware in the closing game of the Shreveport Collegiate Classic at Fair Grounds Field Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys (6-2), ranked #14 in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Top 25 Coaches poll, struck early by scoring three runs in the first inning and two more in the third, providing them with enough cushion to snap a two-game losing skid. Kenny Hansley and Rob Watson fueled Oklahoma State's offense with two hits a piece, while Shreveport native Scott Baker recorded the victory in his first start of the season. Sophomore Mark Michael (Gibbstown, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), a transfer from Old Dominion, hit his first home run as a Blue Hen and junior Reid Gorecki (E. Rockaway, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) went 3 for 5 with two runs scored as Delaware (0-6) comes up short in its bid for its first victory of the 2002 season. Junior Doug Eitelman (Wilmington, DE/Concord) also added two hits on the day and batted .333 (6 for 18) with two runs and one RBI for Delaware over the three-game round-robin tournament. Junior shortstop Kris Dufner (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) was held hitless Sunday snapping his hitting streak at five games.
