Delaware 13, Quinnipiac 4 March 12, 2002 Van Note Connects for Two Home Runs in UD Victory Steve Van Note blasted two home runs for the Hens NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware received six solid innings from starting pitcher Mike Mihalik while Steve Van Note and Doug Eitelman sparked the offense to a 13-4 victory over Quinnipiac University in non-conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium. The Blue Hens (5-8) jumped out to and early two run lead in the first inning as designated hitter Doug Eitelman (Wilmington, DE/Concord) drove in Casey Fahy with an RBI single, and then scored on John Schneider's ground out to shortstop. Eitelman batted 3 for 4 adding a two-run double in the sixth to give him four RBI's on the day. Delaware claimed its third straight victory behind another fine pitching performance as Mike Mihalik (Allentown, PA/Parkland) scattered five hits and struck out five while allowing just one run to claim his second victory of this season. Mihalik held the Braves scoreless through 4 1/3 innings before Charles D'Elia laced an RBI single. Also for the Delaware, Steve Van Note (Brigantine, NJ/Atlantic City) hit two home runs, a two-run shot in the fifth inning and a solo shot in the eighth, while Casey Fahy (Clayton, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) reached base safely in all five plate apperances collecting two hits scoring four runs and stealing three bases. Fahy has now hit safely in five-straight games, batting 11 for 19 over that stretch. For the Braves (0-3) Charles D'Elia hit a pair of doubles as he went 3 for 5 with one run scored and one RBI.
