Delaware 10, Saint Joseph's 3 April 3, 2002 Blue Hens Advance to their eighth Liberty Bell final Reid Gorecki takes a lead off first base. Gorecki went 4-for-4 in the game, with three RBI and two runs scored. PHILADELPHIA -- Steve Van Note (Brigantine, NJ/Atlantic City) broke a 2-2 tie in the third inning, scoring the go-ahead run on a John Schneider (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) groundout, and the University of Delaware never looked back defeating Saint Joseph's University 10-3 Wednesday afternoon in the semi-final round of the 11th Annual Liberty Bell Classic played at Veterans Stadium. Delaware (14-12) advanced to its eighth Liberty Bell final as Reid Gorecki (East Rockaway, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) led the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate, which included a triple, a double, three RBI's and a run scored. Mark Michael (Gibbstown, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) went 2-for-4, hitting his fourth home run of the season, and Kris Dufner (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) added a pair of hits, scoring twice while knocking in one run. Freshman Scott Rambo (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) came on in the fourth inning in relief of starter Jason Rogers (New Castle, DE/William Penn), pitched four hitless innings to pick up his third win of the season. Chris Garrick and Steve Harden each pitched a perfect inning of relief as well. Rogers, who was making his just his second career start, struck out six batters allowing three run on three hits over three innings of work. For the Hawks, John Kokol hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the second inning. In a repeat of last year's title game, Delaware will face Temple University in the Liberty Bell championship game, to be played sometime during the week of April 15th. Five-time winners of the Liberty Bell crown, the Blue Hens seized last year's title by defeating the Owls in 11 innings by a score of 9-8.
