Delaware 6, Towson 5 April 12, 2002 Brock Donovan provides extra inning heroics Brock Donvan 's sac fly brought home Kris Dufner with the winning run NEWARK, DE -- Freshman Brock Donovan delivered a bases-loaded sacrifice fly scoring Kris Dufner with the winning run to give the University of Delaware a 6-5 victory in 10 innings over Towson University in the first of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Bob Hannah Stadium Friday afternoon. After 4-1/2 scoreless innings of play, Delaware junior Kris Dufner (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) led off the bottom of the 10th inning then advanced to third as Dave Harden (Wilmington, DE/Dickinson) moved Dufner along on a sacrifice bunt. The next batter Brock Donovan (New Castle, DE/William Penn), hit a fly to leftfield that was deep enough to allow Dufner to tag up and cross home plate with the winning run. Dufner finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Donovan added a single to go along with two sacrifice flies. Nick DeCarlo (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) also added his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot in the fourth inning.. For the Tigers (15-15-1, 3-4 CAA), Scott Bacon batted 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI's, while Gregg Davies belted his conference leading fifth triple and scored a pair of runs. Mike Mihalik (Allentown, PA/Parkland) picked up the victory tossing three scoreless innings in relief of starter Jason Vincent (Seaford, DE/Seaford), who went seven innings allowing four earned runs on 10 hits and one walk.. Delaware (17-14, 3-3 CAA) and Towson will continue their conference series Saturday afternoon, following a dedication ceremony of the Blue Hens baseball stadium in honor of legendary Delaware Head Coach Bob Hannah. The ceremony is set to start at 1:00 p.m., and the game will be played shortly thereafter.
