Delaware 18, Towson 4 April 14, 2002 Blue Hens Roll to Victory, Complete Series Sweep of Tigers Reid Gorecki batted 3-for-5 with a triple, home run, and a single NEWARK, DE -- For the second day in a row the University of Delaware offense exploded for more than 12 runs and rolled past Towson University by a score of 18-4, sweeping the three-game Colonial Athletic Association series Sunday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium. Blue Hens junior outfielder Reid Gorecki (East Rockaway, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) fell a double short of hitting for the cycle as he went 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, a single, while knocking in two runs and scoring three runs himself. John Schneider (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrenceville) also recorded three hits for the game, with a double and three RBI, and Kris Dufner (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) doubled for the fourth straight game, finishing 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Starting pitcher Rich McGuire (Wantagh, NY/MacAthur) picked up his second consecutive victory going seven innings giving up two earned runs and eight hits while striking out three batters. Offensively for Towson (15-17-1, 3-6 CAA) shortstop Brian McKenna batted 3-for-5 with an RBI double and a solo home run, while Bobby Paduano and Joey Marcozzi chipped in a pair of hits each. Up next for Delaware (19-14, 5-3 CAA) is the championship game of the Liberty Bell Classic against Temple University to be played at Veterans Stadiums in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening beginning at 5 p.m. Both teams have already met once this season, as the Blue Hens defeated the Owls 15-1 back on April 9. Delaware will be seeking its sixth Liberty Bell title.
