William & Mary 19, Delaware 7 May 10, 2002 Blue Hens drop second straight at home for first time all season Reid Gorecki led the Hens hitting two triples and his team-leading 11th HR of the season NEWARK, DE -- The College of William and Mary collected it's seventh straight victory as the offense broke out for a season-high 19 runs on 23 hits cruising by host University of Delaware 19-7 in the second of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Bob Hannah Stadium Friday afternoon. William & Mary (28-22, 9-8 CAA) broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning as Tim Jones and Marshall Hubbard each roped an RBI single and Matt Kirby belted a run scoring double to key a five-run rally. The Tribe built a 12-run lead in the fifth inning, tacking on seven more runs and the Blue Hens would not cut the margin shorter than nine runs for the rest of the game. Jones and Kirby each recorded four hits on the game with Jones going 4-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double, five RBI, and three runs scored, while Kirby went 4-for-6 with a home run, double, two RBI and two runs scored. Also for the Tribe, C.J. Stimson hit his sixth home run of the season and Kyle Padgett chipped in with four hits, three RBI, and three runs scored. The Blue Hens(33-19, 12-6 CAA) tied a school-record with four triples in the game as Reid Gorecki (East Rockaway, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) tripled in his first at-bats then added his 11th home run of the season, a three-run shot, to finish 4-for-5 at the plate, and Casey Fahy (Clayton, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored. The fourth triple, was hit by John Schneider (Lawrenceville, NJ/ Lawrenceville), his first of his career. Whitt Farr (9-4) picked up the winning decision on the mound for the Tribe, going seven innings, giving up five earned runs on nine hits, while Jason Rogers (3-4) suffered the loss for Delaware. Both teams will wrap up the series with the third and final game tomorrow afternoon. The game is a must-win for Delaware to have any shot at winning the Colonial Division crown and secure a bye in the CAA Tournament with the #2 seed.   Coll.
