Blue Rocks 1, Delaware 0 April 2, 2003 Blue Rocks hold off pesky Blue Hens in annual exhibition game Todd Davison (7), shown here in action vs. James Madison this past weekend, had two of the Blue Hens six hits against the Blue Rocks WILMINGTON, DE -- The Wilmington Blue Rocks scored on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third inning and that proved to be the difference in a 1-0 win over the University of Delaware baseball team in an exhibition game today at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, DE. The Blue Rocks have won all six meetings with the Blue Hens and the 1-0 win marked the closest margin of the Delaware Classic. James Shanks knocked in Derrik Lytle for the games only run. Lytle led off the third inning with a walk and moved to third on a double to right field by Andres Blanco. The Blue Hens mounted a comeback in the seventh as red-shirt freshman catcher Brett Wallace walked and moved to third as freshman shortstop Todd Davison followed with a single to right field, but Brent Rogers struck out to end the game and the Hens rally. Davison went 2-for-4 while senior first baseman Steve Harden, senior third baseman Kris Dufner, senior catcher Matt Wimer and sophomore second baseman Brock Donovan each had a single. Mike Stodolka picked up the win, working two scoreless innings. Junior right hander Mark Michael pitched well for Delaware, allowing only three hits, one run over 5.0 innings. Freshman southpaw Joe Coudon worked a scoreless sixth inning in relief. The Blue Hens (9-15) will visit Colonial Athletic Association rival UNC Wilmington in a three game weekend series in Wilmington, NC.
