East Carolina 12, Delaware 0 March 1, 2003 Norwood belts two home runs to lead East Carolina over Delaware GREENVILLE, NC -- Ryan Norwood hit two home runs and drove in five RBI to lead East Carolina to a 12-0 win over the University of Delaware in collegiate baseball action Saturday afternoon at Harrington Field in Greenville, NC. East Carolina (7-3) pushed across the first runs of the game on a two-run home run by Ryan Jones in the third inning. The Pirates would go ahead 5-0 on a three-run shot to left by Norwood in the fifth and add five more runs in the sixth to go ahead 10-0. Freshman shortstop Todd Davison and senior left fielder Nick DeCarlo each went 2-for-4 with two singles to lead the Blue Hens. Senior right fielder Doug Eitelman continued his hot hitting with a double to left center in the eighth inning. Eitelman is hitting .357 on the year with two doubles, one home run and four RBI. Delaware (0-5) had a chance to take a lead in the third inning when the Hens got two runners on but East Carolina starter Davey Penny got junior designated hitter Mark Michael to pop up to second base to end the inning. Penny picked up his first win of the season, scattering five hits over seven innings while striking out nine. Blue Hen starter Jason Vincent (0-2) went five innings, allowing nine hits and six earned runs. The final game of the three game weekend series concludes tomorrow.
