James Madison 5, Delaware 1 March 28, 2003 James Madison picks up win in CAA conference opener Jason Rogers pitched 6.0 strong innings for the Blue Hens NEWARK, DE -- James Madison University upended the University of Delaware 5-1 in Colonial Athletic Association baseball action today at Bob Hannah Stadium. The game, which was halted due to rain yesterday in the top of the seventh inning with the Dukes leading 2-1, started back up at 11:00 a.m. this morning. James Madison (14-10, 1-0 CAA) added a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to pick up the victory in the CAA opener for both clubs. The Dukes took a 2-1 lead on an opposite field solo homer to right field by Nathan Doyle in the fifth inning. James Madison struck first in the top of the third as Travis Ebaugh double to center field, scoring Mitch Rigsby for a 1-0 lead. The Blue Hens (8-14, 0-1 CAA) answered back in the bottom of the frame with an RBI double by senior Kris Dufner to tie the game 1-1. Dufner was 2-for-4 on the day. Freshman Todd Davison extended his hit streak to 11 games with a single to center in the third. Senior Steve Harden was 2-for-3 with a double for the Hens. Sophomore Jason Rogers pitched 6.0 strong innings, scattering seven hits and struck out five batters to drop to 1-4 on the season. Chris Cochran went 6.0 innings for the Dukes, allowing only one run on five hits and stuck out four to run his season record to 4-1.
