Delaware 9, James Madison 3 March 29, 2003 Vincent picks up win for Delaware, Davison continues torrid hitting Todd Davison has hit .422 over his last 12 games, including three hits today NEWARK, DE -- Freshman Todd Davison went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and five RBI to lead the University of Delaware to a 9-3 win over visiting James Madison in Colonial Athletic Association baseball action this afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium. With the Dukes leading 1-0, junior Steve Van Note doubled to right field, scoring Davison for the Hens first run of the game in the sixth inning. Davison reached on an infield single to lead off the inning, extending his hitting streak to 12 games. He has hit .422 (19-for-45) over the last 12 games to raise his average to a team-leading .306 clip. James Madison (14-11, 1-1 CAA) scored a single run in the seventh to go back on top 2-1, but the Delaware bats woke up and scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and five more in the eighth to jump out to a commanding 9-2 lead. Davison doubled in two runs to put the Hens ahead for the first time in the game, 3-2. Two batters later senior Kris Dufner plated another run on a double down the right field line in the seventh to give Delaware a 4-2 advantage. In the eighth, freshman Joe Coudon doubled to right field scoring two Hen runners for a 6-2 lead. After a two out error by James Madison, Davison crushed a three-run homer to left center field to put an exclamation point on the victory. Senior Jason Vincent struggled for the most part over 7.0 innings, allowing nine hits and walked a season-high seven, but was able to hang on for his second victory of the season. Sophomore Chris Garrick grabbed his second save of the season as he allowed one run over 2.0 innings. The two pitchers combined to strand 16 James Madison runners. Van Note and sophomore Brock Donovan each went 2-for-4. Brent Metheny, Eddie Kim, Mike Butia and Mitch Rigsby each had a pair of his in a losing cause for the Dukes. Kurt Isenberg (4-4) suffered the loss as he gave up four runs and eight hits over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight. The final game of the weekend series will be played on Sunday.
