Delaware 12, Quinnipiac 0 Delaware 9, Quinnipiac 1 March 14, 2003 Vincent pitches one-hitter to lead Delaware to doubleheader sweep of Quinnipiac NEWARK, DE -- Sophomore Jason Vincent (Seaford, DE) pitched a one-hit complete game shutout and freshman Todd Davison (Somers Point, NJ) went 5-for-6 on the afternoon to lead the University of Delaware baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Quinnipiac University Friday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium. The Hens won the first game 12-0 and took the nightcap 9-1. VIncent, who limited the Bobcats (0-6) to a single through the right-side in the fifth inning by Brian Magee, struck out six batters and faced just 22 batters, just one over the minimum. He is now 1-2 on the season. Senior Doug Eitelman (Wilmington, DE) put the Hens up 1-0 on an RBI single and Davison followed with a two-RBI single to left to go ahead 3-0 in the third. With a 5-0 cushion, the Delaware offense, which entered today's action with a .213 team batting average, exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning. The big hit was a three-run homer by freshman Daryl Holcomb (Wilmington, DE), his first career homer at Delaware, to put the Hens up 12-0. Davison was 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI while senior Kris Dufner (Philadelphia, PA), Eitelman and Holcomb each went 2-for-4. Senior Steve Harden (Wilmington, DE) had two hits and two RBI. The offense continued to surge in the nightcap as the Hens jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Harden doubled down the right-field line, scoring freshman Joey Coudon (Rising Sun, MD) and Davison. Delaware struck for another seven runs in the fourth, Coudon doubled home two in the inning while Harden sent a deep-shot to left center to give Hens starter, sophomore Scott Rambo (Downingtown, PA) a comfortable lead. Rambo went 6.0 innings, striking out eight to improve his record to 2-1. Harden went 2-for-4 in the second game with four RBI and his third homer of the season while Coudon went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI. The Blue Hens (4-9) return to action Tuesday when they visit in-state rival Delaware State for a doubleheader in Dover.
