Saint Joseph's 7, Delaware 1 April 1, 2003 Hawks Knock Blue Hens Out of Liberty Bell Classic Todd Davison (7), shown here in action vs. James Madison this weekend, extended his hitting streak to 13 games vs. Saint Joseph's PHILADELPHIA -- Freshman righthander Jason Volker pitched a complete game four-hitter for his first collegiate win, a 7-1 victory over the University of Delaware, and send Saint Joseph's to the finals of the Liberty Bell Classic Collegiate Baseball Tournament, today at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. The Hawks will face Temple University in tomorrow's 7 p.m. final as the Owls won 7-4 over Penn in the other semifinal game today at the Vet. The two-time defending champion Blue Hens would tie the game at 1-1 in the third on an RBI single through the right side by senior Kris Dufner, scoring freshman Todd Davison, who stretched his hitting streak to 13 games earlier in the inning with a single that skirted under the glove of Hawks third baseman Rob Pimpinella and into left field. Davison would steal his fourth base of the season to get into scoring position. After the Dufner single, junior Steve Van Note followed with a double to left-center field, but Volker was able to get senior Steve Harden to fly out to right field, stranding both runners, and end the inning. NIck Baldasari put Saint Joseph's (6-14) ahead for good in the sixth when he ripped a double down the left field line, scoring two. The Hawks would add four more in the eighth to account for the day's final runs. Baldasari finished the day 2-for-4 with three RBI while Jason Tarewicz had two hits. The Blue Hens (9-15) will take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks in an exhibition game tomorrow at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, DE.
