Temple 8, Delaware 6 April 30, 2003 Dufner, Harden and Donovan each hit a homerun in setback to Owls PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Senior shortstop Kris Dufner, senior third baseman Steve Harden and sophomore left fielder Brock Donovan each hit a home run for the University of Delaware baseball team but it was not enough as Temple won the game 8-6 today at Erny Field in Philadelphia. The Blue Hens scored three runs in the top half of the first inning thanks to a one-out long ball by Donovan to open the scoring while adding two more runs on three Temple (18-19) errors for a 3-0 lead. The Owls came right back with four runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning keyed by a two-run homer by John Quigley and a solo shot by Jeff Roma. Harden tied the game at 4-4 in the second on a sacrifice fly but the Owls scored two more in the their half of the second to lead 6-4. Dufner and Harden each hit solo homers in the seventh to close the Blue Hen deficit to 7-6 but the Owls tacked on a single run in the bottom half of the seventh and go on to the 8-6 win. Freshman southpaw Joe Coudon suffers the loss as he went 4.1 innings allowing nine hits and seven runs with three strikeouts. Donovan, Dufner and Harden each had two hits while Senior designated hitter Matt Wimer and freshman catcher Brian Valichka each went 1-for-4.
