UNC Wilmington 5, Delaware 2 April 5, 2003 Hens drop second straight to host Seahawks WILMINGTON, NC -- Brad Overton pitched 7.0 innings allowing only three hits and two runs to lead UNC Wilmington to a 5-2 win over the University of Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association baseball action today at Brooks Field in Wilmington, NC. The Seahawks have now won the first two games of the weekend series. Overton improved to 5-1 on the season while senior righty Jason Vincent fell to 2-4 on the year. Vincent allowed five runs (two earned) and seven hits over 7.0 innings. Blake Cross pitched a scoreless ninth for his CAA-leading eighth save and second in as many days. Sophomore right fielder Dave Harden gave the Blue Hens a 1-0 lead in the second inning as he drove in senior first baseman Steve Harden with a single through the left side. UNCW plated single runs in the second and third to lead 2-1 but Steve Harden led off the fourth with his fifth homer of the season squaring the game 2-2. The homer was Harden's 26th of his career. Chip Grawey's RBI single to left in the fifth proved to be the game-winner as UNCW (24-11, 5-3 CAA) would lead the rest of the way. The Seahawks added two unearned runs in the sixth inning to afford themselves a comfortable 5-2 lead. Freshman shortstop Todd Davison extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a lead off single to right in the eighth inning. Davison is now one game short of the UD freshman record of 16 games held by Brian August. Matt Wright led the Seahawks with three hits and an RBI while Russ Simmerman had a double and two runs scored. The Blue Hens (9-17, 1-3 CAA) will take on UNC Wilmington tomorrow in the final game of a three game weekend series in Wilmington, NC.
