Delaware 11, Buffalo 0 March 18, 2004 Mihalik's Arm, Donovan's Bat Send Hens to 13th Straight Victory Box Score NEWARK, DE -- Just one day after Jarame Beaupre pitched the sixth no-hitter in University of Delaware baseball history, the Blue Hens almost pulled it off again on Thursday. Senior Mike Mihalik (right) and two Blue Hen relievers held the University of Buffalo to just one hit and second baseman Brock Donovan knocked in four runs to lead Delaware to an 11-0 non-league victory over the Bulls at Bob Hannah Stadium. Mihalik (2-1) went seven innings, allowing just an infield hit to Joe Mihalics in the sixth inning and striking out nine batters, to lead the Blue Hens (13-4) to their 13th straight win overall and their 12th straight win at home. Mike Chiciak, making his collegiate debut, and Billy Harris each pitched a perfect inning to complete the shutout by the Blue Hens. Buffalo, coming off a 11-10 loss at Coppin State Thursday, dropped its fifth straight game and fell to 1-11 on the season. Jeff Loveys (0-2) took the loss on the mound as he allowed seven hits and four runs in five innings. The Hens, who banged out 13 hits, including five for extra bases, reached double figures in hits for the 11th time during the win streak. Donovan led the way by going 4 for 5 with four RBI while Steve Van Note added three hits and extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Ed McDonnell clouted a pinch-hit three-run home run to right field to highlight a five-run seventh inning. Delaware jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings and Brent Rogers hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning and Todd Davison and Van Note each delivered run-scoring hits in a three-run fourth. The Hens blew the game open with the five-run seventh inning as they batted around. Donovan knocked in two runs with a single and McDonnell clouted his pinch-hit home run. Delaware added on two more markers in the eighth inning on a two-run double to right field by Donovan.
