Homer for Blue Hens
Freshman Dan Kozek also went deep for the second straight day for the Blue Hens (27-16, 9-7 CAA), who ran their conference winning streak to five games and have now won 12 of their last 14 games. The Pride (12-32, 3-17 CAA) dropped their 11th in a row and have lost 15 of their last 16 overall. Davison gave the Hens a 1-0 lead in the top of the third as his first sac fly of the season scored junior Brock Donovan. He extended the lead to 4-0 in the top of the fifth when his fourth home run of the season cleared the wall in center field, scoring Graham and Donovan. Junior Kelly Buber followed with an RBI double to score junior Dave Harden and put Delaware in front 5-0. Buber has now hit safely in 23 of his last 24 games. In the sixth, Graham doubled home Donovan and junior Ed McDonnell to stretch the lead to 7-0 before Graham scored on a balk by Hofstra reliever Kellen Taylor to make it 8-0. Kozek scored on an error in the seventh followed by another balk by Taylor to score Donovan and put the Hens up 10-0. Kozek's fifth home run of the season in the ninth capped the scoring. Senior Mike Mihalik picked up his fifth win of the season, allowing six hits and no runs in eight innings of work, striking out seven. He now has 253 strikeouts for his career, tying him with Rich McGuire (1999-2002) for first place all-time at Delaware. Terrence Voganberger suffered his third loss of the season for the Pride, allowing 11 hits and eight earned runs in 5.1 innings of work, striking out seven. Freshman Mitch Heckert pitched the ninth for Delaware.
