CAA Winning Streak to Three Games Behind Mihalik, Van
Note
Mihalik allowed five hits and two earned runs while striking out six and walking just one as Delaware (22-16, 6-7 CAA) won for the 10th time in its last 12 outings. The Dukes (26-16, 7-7 CAA), meanwhile, dropped their third straight contest. Van Note led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo shot over the 365 foot mark in left center field that gave the Blue Hens a 3-2 lead. They tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by junior Ryan Graham and an RBI groundout by sophomore Brent Rogers to extend their lead to 5-2. The Blue Hens opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning, scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Brian Valichka (right) singled home junior Dave Harden to put Delaware up 1-0 and was later plated on a single by sophomore Todd Davison. Freshman Jacob Cook suffered the loss for James Madison, allowing seven hits and four earned runs in six innings of work, striking out six. His record is now 2-2 on the season. Mihalik (247 strikeouts) now stands six strikeouts behind Rich McGuire for first place on Delaware's all-time strikeout list. Additionally, Delaware junior Kelly Buber extended his hitting streak to 20 games with a single in the sixth inning. The Blue Hens and Dukes conclude their three-game series Sunday afternoon at noon.
