With the losses, the Blue Hens (13-14, 0-5 CAA) saw their losing streak stretched to 10 games while the Seahawks have won three straight and improved to 16-11 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. The team's played a doubleheader following yesterday's rainout of game one of the three-game series. Aaron Smith, Tim Preston and Robert White each had two RBI for the Seahawks in game one while Delaware junior Kelly Buber (above) smacked his third home run of the season, a two-run shot in the third inning that tied the game at three. UNC Wilmington scored five times in the next two innings to take control of the game, scoring on an RBI groundout by Matt Poulk in the top of the fourth and RBI singles by Smith, Preston and White in the fifth. Preston scored on a wild pitch to cap the scoring in the fifth. Junior Dave Harden went 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Blue Hens while junior Todd Davison went 2 for 5 with an RBI. Ronald Hill picked up the win for the Seahawks to improve to 6-2 on the season. He worked six innings, allowing 10 hits and four runs (two earned) while striking out three. Blake Cross pitched the final 2.1 innings to earn his seventh save of the season. Junior Scott Rambo suffered the loss for Delaware, allowing 10 hits and eight earned runs in 5.0 inning of work. In game two, Zach Kimball tossed a two-hit shutout for UNC Wilmington, striking out a career-high nine hitters to even his record at 2-2. Senior Mike Mihalik took the loss for Delaware, working 7.0 innings of seven-hit ball, allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out seven to fall to 2-2 on the season. The Seahawks pushed across single runs in both the third and fourth to build a 2-0 lead. Tim Denson scored on a wild pitch in the third and Lee McLean singled home Preston in the fourth. Buber and sophomore Brian Valichka each singled for Delaware, who has now lost its last six home games. The Blue Hens stranded 13 runners in game one and three in game two, giving them 30 runners left on base in their last three games. on Saturday afternoon, capturing game one, 10-4, before
blanking the Blue Hens in game two, 2-0, in Colonial
Athletic Association baseball action at Bob Hannah
Stadium.
