Times in Eighth Inning NEWARK, DE -- Junior Dave Harden slammed a bases clearing double in the bottom of the eighth inning as the University of Delaware baseball team rallied from a late 5-0 deficit to defeat Wilmington College, 7-5, Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium in Newark, DE. The Blue Hens (21-16), who scored all seven of their runs in the bottom of the eighth, picked up their eighth win in their last 10 games while Wilmington College (16-22) lost its fourth-straight decision to Delaware. Wilmington College opened the scoring in the top of the fifth, scoring three times to take a 3-0 lead. Tom Ellis singled to left field to score Joe Class before Bryan Fitzgerald singled home both Garry Wright and Tom Gallagher. In the seventh, Aaron Lewis hit his fifth home run of the season to left field with one out to score Jim Murphy and extend the Wildcats lead to 5-0. Delaware sophomore Brian Valichka hit his fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the deficit to 5-2 before junior Ed McDonnell scored on a wild pitch with one out to bring the Hens to within 5-3. Senior Steve Van Note then received a walk to load the bases before Harden gave the Blue Hens their first lead of the game. Junior Kelly Buber plated Harden with a double to left center. He finished the afternoon 2 for 3 with an RBI to extend his hitting streak to 18 games. Freshman Billy Harris picked up his second win of the season in relief for the Blue Hens, allowing two hits and two earned runs in two innings of work, striking out two. Pete Henyan pitched 7.2 innings for Wilmington College, allowing 11 hits and seven earned runs while striking out eight. Sophomore Joe Coudon worked the ninth for his fifth save of the season. The Blue Hens return to action this Friday when they open a three-game series against James Madison at Bob Hannah Stadium.
