William & Mary 11, Delaware 2 March 26, 2004 Tribe Downs Blue Hens in Their Conference-Opener Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The University of Delaware dropped its fourth straight game and fell in its Colonial Athletic Association opener Friday night as host William & Mary banged out 13 hits and four home runs on the way to a 11-2 victory over the Blue Hens at Plumeri Park. The two teams will play the second of their three-game series Saturday at 4 p.m. The third and final game of the weekend set will be played Sunday afternoon. Chris Rahl and Will Rhymes each hit home runs and knocked in three runs as the Tribe (17-7, 1-3 CAA) snapped a four-game losing streak. William & Mary opened CAA play last week and were swept by George Mason in three games. Delaware starter Scott Rambo (3-3) struck out 11 batters but lasted just 5.1 innings as the Tribe knocked him out with a six-run sixth inning. The Blue Hens (13-8) managed eight hits as Dave Harden had a double and knocked in a run and Bryan Hagerich hit a triple and had one RBI. Steve Van Note went 1 for 3 to extend his hitting streak to 18 games and also stole two bases. William & Mary starter Forest Cory (4-2) went 6.1 innings, allowing just seven hits and striking out nine to earn the victory on the mound. The Tribe jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the Blue Hens answered with two runs in the sixth inning to keep the game close. Todd Davison led off the inning with a double and scored on a double by Harden. Harden scored one batter later on the triple by Hagerich. William & Mary put the game away in the sixth inning with a six-run outburst. Greg Sexton opened the frame with a solo home run and Rhymes followed four batters later with an RBI single. Rahl capped the inning with a three-run shot to left center off Delaware's Chad Kerfoot.
