High School: Four-year letterwinner in both baseball and football at Laure • led Laurel to a 13-5 record, a Southern Henlopen Championship, and a berth in the state quarterfinals as a junior for coach Jerry Mears • received all-conference honorable mention honors as a freshman and was named first team all-conference as a sophomore, junior, and senior • named second team all-state as a junior and first team all-state as a senior • named the team’s Most Valuable Player his senior season • earned Louisville Slugger pre-season and postseason first team All-American honors • played in both the baseball and football Blue and Gold All-Star games • holds school records with career 16 home runs, 19 single-season touchdown passes, and five touchdown passes in a single game • named all-conference four times in football, twice as a punter and twice as a quarterback, and twice was named all-state • also was named to the Daily Times First Team • National Honor Society president • class salutatorian • four-time academic all-conference selection.

Personal: Andrew Joseph Hartstein • born May 1, 1985 • son of Jim and Lois Hartstein • has one brother, Jimmy, who plays football for Elon University, and has a sister Ashlee • exercise science major at Delaware.
