NEWARK, DE -- The Northeastern University baseball team completed a three-game sweep of the University of Delaware, 11-0, on Sunday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Northeastern starter Kris Dabrowiecki struck out nine Delaware hitters in eight shutout innings for the Huskies. Brandon Menchaca reached base twice on a walk and a double, and stole a base for the Hens.

Northeastern (9-7, 4-2 CAA) first scored in the third inning when Dan Milano hit a two-out homer to right field off of Delaware starter Chad Kerfoot. Northeastern added a run in the fourth on Josh Porter’s leadoff home run before adding three more in the fifth on the strength of three hits, a walk and a hit batsmen.

Down 5-0 in the sixth inning, the Hens (10-10, 0-6 CAA) mounted their most serious scoring threat. Brian Hagerich’s two-out walk loaded the bases for Menchaca, who drove a ball deep down the right field line, but the threat ended when Northeastern rightfielder Jeff Maher made a nice running grab while moving towards the right field foul line. The Huskies then added two more runs in the seventh and three in the ninth to provide the final margin.

The three Northeastern starting pitchers combined to allow only one run on 14 hits while each pitching eight innings. The loss marked the sixth consecutive in conference for the Hens, establishing a new school record.

The Blue Hens return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host UMBC at Bob Hannah Stadium. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
