At Delaware: Will compete for a starting spot in Delaware’s conference rotation following Tommy John surgery last spring • hard-throwing lefthander.

2006: Appeared in two games, including one start before season-ending injury • struck out nine batters in five innings • selected by Seattle Mariners in 21st round of MLB draft • did not sign and Mariners will retain rights until 10 days before 2007 draft because of status as a fifth-year senior.

2005: Posted 5-5 mark with a 5.04 ERA in his first season at Delaware • led team in innings pitched and strikeouts • held opposing hitters to a .245 batting average • averaged 1.24 strikeouts per inning for the season • struck out 13 hitters in a seven inning no-hitter against Hofstra on March 26 • CAA Pitcher of the Week March 28 • No. 13 in NCAA in strikeouts.

At CCBC Dundalk: 2004: Owns the school’s strikeout record with 110 • went 7-3 record with a 2.21 ERA in 73 innings • honored as a third team All-American and was a first team Maryland Junior College selection • received the Donald Weller award for being named Student Athlete of the Year in 2004.

High School: Named all-county his senior year at Harford Technical after leading the county with a school-record 90 strikeouts • went 7-2 with a 1.57 ERA in 58 innings on the mound for coach Tony Belcastro • placed eighth out of 100 golfers in the Harford County Golf Tournament.

Personal: Brent Alan Gaphardt • born June 9, 1984 • son of Susan and Brad Gaphardt • has one sister • health behavior management major at Delaware • during the summer of 2004 he traveled to China with the Junior College All-Star team to play the China National Team • selected in the 42nd round of the 2004 draft by the Montreal Expos.
