FAIRFAX, VA -- Chad Kerfoot (right) allowed only two hits over eight shutout innings and Bryan Hagerich had three hits, including two home runs and five RBI in leading the University of Delaware baseball team to a 12-0 win over George Mason Sunday afternoon at Spuhler Field.

Ryan Jablonski tied a Delaware record with three doubles. The win marked the first shutout of the season for the Hens. George Mason had not been shutout or held to two hits or less since its loss to No. 1 Clemson on opening day. The win was the 200th at Delaware for head coach Jim Sherman.

Delaware (9-16, 5-7 CAA) scored three times before recording an out in the first inning. Jablonski led off with a double, Brandon Menchaca was hit by a pitch and Alex Buchholz and Hagerich walked to leave the bases loaded with one run in. Adam Tsakonas then doubled off the top of the wall in left to bring in two more runs for a 3-0 Delaware lead.

The Hens scored three more in the second. Jablonski doubled with one out and then scored on a single by Buchholz. Hagerich followed with his second home run of the weekend, a Ruthian shot to leftfield.

Delaware added another run in the sixth when Tsakonas’ two-out triple to right center got past the outstretched glove of Mason centerfielder Spencer Wiggins, scoring Menchaca from third.

In the eighth Hagerich hit his second home run of the day to give the Hens an 8-0 lead. Later in the inning, Danny Overcash blasted Mason reliever T.J. O’Grady’s first pitch deep over the wall in left to put the Blue Hens up 11-0.

Jablonski tied the school record for doubles in a game when he led off the ninth with a double to the gap in left center. He later scored on Hagerich’s third hit of the day, a single through the left side.

Kerfoot picked up the win to move to 2-1, while Mason starter Dan Jaycox took the loss to fall to 1-1.

The Hens return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Delaware State at Schutte Park in Dover at 7 p.m.
