NEWARK, Del. - Behind an outstanding effort by sophomore Pat Dameron, the Blue Team captured game two of the Blue/Grey World Series to clinch a victory in the competition with a 7-3 win over the Grey Squad on Thursday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.
Dameron (at right), who led all freshmen and ranked fifth of the team last year with a .299 batting average, clubbed four hits, including a double. He also knocked in a run and added three singles for the victors.
Danny Overcash also continued his strong fall, finishing with a pair of hits and three RBI. In Game One, he notched three hits including a pair of home runs.
Freshman Rich O'Donald earned the win for the Blue Team, firing four strong innings of work. A former draft pick of the Seattle Mariners, the right-hander allowed just one earned run while striking out five.
For the grey team, Steve Ulaky posted two of the squad's five hits with a pair of singles to go along with an RBI. Josh Dean also knocked in a run after chasing home two during the first game of the series.
The Blue/Grey World Series will wrap up on Friday at 3 p.m. when the team concludes its annual intrasquad series at Bob Hannah Stadium.
