Rivers, Reed Lead Blue Team to Sweep with 9-5 Win in Blue/Grey World Series Finale

NEWARK, Del. - With a 9-5 victory in the Blue/Grey World Series finale on Friday afternoon, the Blue Team posted a three-game sweep over the Grey Squad during the annual intrasquad series at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Freshman Nick Rivers led a potent offensive attack, slugging four hits including a pair of doubles. A former high school All-American at DeMatha, the first-year standout also knocked in three runs to guide the Blue Team to the victory.

Ryan Reed (at right), the reigning team MVP, also provided some pop, posting two hits while knocking in a pair of runs. Kyle Davis rounded out the attack, slugging a two-run shot for his first home run of the fall.

Freshman Casey Cannon earned the win after allowing just four hits and three runs over his four innings of work. Brad Miller closed out the victory, allowing just one hit while picking up a three-inning save.

For the Grey, Josh Dean continued his torrid fall, legging out a triple before blasting a two-run shot in the top of the seventh. He finished the World Series with six hits including a pair of home runs.

Steve Ulaky also posted two hits for the second straight day, while Matt Harden went 1-for-2 with a double and RBI.

The game capped the team's fall season. Delaware will open up its regular season on February 20 when the Hens kick off a four-game series against Longwood in Farmville, Virginia.
