Delaware Baseball to Host Homecoming Events on October 30-31

NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware baseball program will host its annual homecoming golf tournament Friday, October 30th at The Club at Patriot’s Glen in Elkton, Maryland and will honor six program alumni at its annual homecoming tailgate Saturday, October 31st before the Delaware football team takes on James Madison University.

Check-in for the golf tournament will begin at 11:00 am on Friday with a modified shotgun start beginning at 12:00 noon. Lunch (hot dog/hamburger, chips and soda) will be provided before tee-off followed by dinner and awards at the tournament’s conclusion. Dinner will be at the course and will be provided by the staff of the Elktowne Tavern. Awards will be given to the top two finishing teams as well as to the longest drive and closest to the pin competition winners.

Registrations are requested by Wednesday, October 28th.  The cost per golfer will be $150, however, larger sponsorship packages for foursomes will be available for purchase.  Tee sign sponsorships of $100 are also welcomed from both individuals and businesses. Several items will be available for winning by way of raffle. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Fightin’ Blue Hen baseball program.

Saturday morning will feature the University of Delaware baseball alumni and friends annual homecoming tailgate beginning at 9:30 a.m. There is no cost for the event which will be held in the tent in the corner of the football practice field closest to Bob Hannah Stadium. Food and beverages will be provided by UD Dining Services.

At the tailgate, the members of the 2009-10 baseball team will introduce themselves, and alumni awards will be presented to six former Blue Hens, including Chris Kolodzey (1998-01, 232 career hits), Reid Gorecki (2000-02, 204 career hits), Andrew Salvo (1999-01, 246 hits), Scott Rambo (2002-05, 23 career wins), Keith Garagozzo (above - 1989-91) and Doug Shaab (1980-83).
