WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- Chris Kolodzey singled home Andrew Salvo with one out in the top of the 10th inning to lead the University of Delaware to a 5-4 non-league baseball victory over host William & Mary Friday afternoon at Plumeri Park. The Blue Hens (4-3) won their third straight game as they opened up a three-game set with the Tribe this weekend. William & Mary (13-6) dropped its fourth straight game. The meeting was the first between the two schools since 1981. The teams will play single games Saturday at 12 noon and Sunday at 1 p.m. Kolodzey had three hits on the day to lead a 10-hit assault that backed the pitching of sophomore Rich McGuire who went the distance, scattering 10 hits, walking two, and striking out five to improve to 2-0. He allowed a one-out single to Brendan Harris in the bottom of the 10th inning before striking out Brian Rogers and Mike O'Kelly to end the game. Eight Blue Hens players collected at least one hit as the Blue Hens scored single runs in the first three innings and again in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead. Salvo knocked in a run on a ground out in the first, Peter Maestrales led off the second with his first home run of the season, Kolodzey had an RBI single in the third, and Bobby Fry had an RBI double in the sixth. William & Mary tied the game at 4-4 in the eighth inning on a solo home run by Rogers, his sixth of the season. Rogers also knocked in a run with a double in the first inning.
