At American River College: Competed in baseball at American River College after seeing action in seven games at UC San Diego as a freshman • appeared in eight games with four starts at American River • fired 27.2 innings on the mound while posting a 5.53 ERA • earned Academic All-Conference honors • only pitcher on the staff to fire a complete game and pick up a save during the season.
High School: Exceptional pitcher at Granite Bay High School • received first-team All-Metro honors in 2005 and 2006 • earned Puma Preseason All-American honors entering his senior season • led Granite Bay to the Metro Conference championship before falling in secionals • also was a center on the basketball team • earned second-team All-Conference honors in 2005 and 2006.
Personal: Nick A. Young • son of Nick and Claire Young • has a younger brother, Braden • his cousin, Jacob Hickman, was an offensive lineman at Nebraska from 2005-09 • enjoys playing wiffle ball and golf • majoring in business finance with a minor in economics.
