Updated 9/1/04

Former standout Blue Hen outfielder Casey Fahy (pronounced "Fay") is in his second year as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Delaware for the 2005 season.

He serves as the outfielders coach and assists with base running. A New Jersey native, he had an outstanding three-year career as an outfielder at Delaware and graduated in 2002 with a degree in history. He played one season at George Mason in 1999 before transferring to Delaware.

In his senior season at Delaware in 2002, Fahy established a new single-season school record with 40 stolen bases. His 40 steals led the Colonial Athletic Association and were seventh best in all of NCAA Division I.

He finished his Delaware career with 79 stolen bases in 90 attempts (an 87.7 percent success rate) and a .316 batting average, including a mark of .338 during his senior year. He was a second team All-CAA selection as an outfielder in 2002 and also earned CAA Player of the Week honors that same season.

Fahy, 25, attended Gloucester Catholic High School and had 110 hits, 123 runs scored, and 102 stolen bases in his high school career. As a senior, Fahy was an all-conference, all-Parochial Group, all-South Jersey, and all-state selection. He was also a USA Today All-American honorable mention as a senior after hitting .632 and stealing 42 bases without being caught. He led the team to the 1996 state championship.

After graduating from Delaware, Fahy spent the 2002-2003 school year as a teacher and an assistant baseball coach at Delsea (NJ) High School.

Fahy is single and resides in Clayton, NJ.
