The University of Delaware baseball team (35-23) won two games in a row against Towson , 5-2 in the first game and 6-3 in the second game, overcoming a loss that had them facing elimination coming into the first game of the day to win its second straight America East Tournament and its fourth in the last five years. With the win the Blue Hens advance to the NCAA Tournament and will wait to find out the NCAA Baseball Tournament pairings, which will be announced on Monday at 3 p.m. on ESPN.

In the first game Towson jumped ahead of the Blue Hens in the second inning on a Jason Sandner sacrifice fly, but Delaware struck back in the fourth inning off a three-run home run by two-time America East Player of the Year Kevin Mench, who collected his 18th of the season. Delaware tacked on a run in the top of the sixth inning on a Frank DiMaggio RBI single. However, Towson loaded the bases with no outs off of Delaware starter Tim Lorito. Greg Davies hit a single which scored Dusty Reynolds, but Dubansky was thrown out at the plate by Mench to get the first out of the inning. Lorito got two fly ball outs to limit the Tigers to one run in the sixth and left after pitching seven innings and only giving up two runs. Bryan Porcelli, who picked up a complete game victory on Friday against Northeastern, came in with two men on and two outs in the bottom of the eighth and pitched the rest of the way to pick up his first career save.

Delaware jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings in the second game on two-RBI singles by DiMaggio and Andrew Salvo. Vic Sage pitched four scoreless innings to start the game but RBI doubles to Tim Pritchard and Jason Rummel, along with an RBI single to Ryan Avila as Towson cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fifth inning. Delaware responded on an RBI single by Ken Giles to give the Hens some breathing room. Dave Mullin, who picked up the loss in a complete game effort Saturday against Towson, became the second Blue Hens pitcher to pick up a save in their second tournament appearance by holding down Towson in the last two innings to give Delaware the victory.
