April 7, 1999 UD Baseball drops exhibition contest to Blue Rocks 5-0 WILMINGTON, DE -- The University of Delaware dropped a 5-0 decision to the single-A Royal affiliate Wilmington Blue Rocks in an exhibition game at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Delaware. Four Wilmington Blue Rocks pitchers combined to shutout the Hens for the second year in a row. However, Delaware's pitching improved on last years performance in which it gave up 13 runs in the loss by holding the Blue Rocks to only five runs in the game. Bryan Porcelli, Rich McGuire, Tim Lorito and Nick Spiewak all pitched scoreless innings as the Hens had a different pitcher takethe hill in each inning. Frank DiMaggio led the Hens hitting with a two for three performance. Delaware's next game will be on Saturday at 12 noon when the Hens take on local rival Drexel in an America East contest at theDelaware Diamond. - DDD |
