Game Two Delaware 7, Hartford
1 HARTFORD, CONN -- Frank DiMaggio had six RBI for the Delaware baseball team (25-17, 14-4) as the Hens defeat ed Hartford (10-26, 5-13) 8-4 and 7-1 to sweep an America East doubleheader from the Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Ray McKenna Field. In the first game Delaware trailed 4-2 going into the top of the sixth inning before DiMaggio tiedthe game on a two-run home run. The Blue Hens were tied at four going into the seventh inning, but Delaware responded with RBI singles from Kevin Mench and DiMaggio to give the Hens a four run lead that would hold up. Dave Mullin moved to 4-1 in conference play with a complete game victory. In the second game Bryan Porcelli continued his dominance over America East foes pitching a complete game and only giving up one earned run for the victory. The win was Porcelli's sixth in a row and gives him a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. The Hens jumped out to a lead early scoring two runs in the second on RBI singles from Chris Kolodzey and Vince Vukovich, and then capitalized on a Hartford error in the second to score two runs in the third. Delaware was led offensively by DiMagggio who had six RBI on the day and Mench who had four runs and went five for eight on the day. Mench has now reached base safely in all 18 conference games this season. Ken Giles also contributed with a home run in the first game. Mullin and Porcelli, who have a combined 9-1 record in conference play, led the pitching with two complete game victories on the day. Mark Rand went three for four in the first game with one RBI to lead the Hawks hitting attack. Delaware will be in action next on Sunday when the Hens take on Hartford in an America East doubleheader at Ray McKenna Field at 12 noon.
