UD Baseball sweeps conference doubleheader from
Vermont
NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware baseball team
(11-12, 2-0) swept its first conference doubleheader and won
its 12th straight America East game dating back to last
season as the Hens defeated Vermont (7-7, 0-2) in a
doubleheader 1-0 in the first game and 9-3 in the second
game.
In the first game Dave Mullin pitched his second
complete game and extended his consecutive scoreless innings
streak to 12 dating back to last weekend against Princeton.

Second baseman Andrew Salvo hit into a fielders
choice to bring in Kolodzey who was the games only run.
Vermont pitcher Eric Deso went six innings giving up only
one unearned run and three hits.
In the second game Kevin Mench went two for four
with four RBI and Rich McGuire pitched his second
straight complete game and extended his consecutive innings
without an earned run streak to 15 innings. Three Vermont
pitchers walked eight Hens during the course of the game as
Delaware got six runs in the second inning to move to the
victory.
Delaware, who has now won nine straight home games, was
led by its pitching which went 14 innings today without
giving up an earned. Mench went 2-6 with four RBI on the
day, while Kolodzey was 4-6 with one run and two RBI on the
day. Mullin pitched his third straight complete game and won
his third straightgame, while McGuire pitched his second
straight complete game and won his second straight
decision.
Vermont was led by Kyle Weaver in the second game with a
1-3performance and a three-run homer in the second inning,
while Deso led the Catamounts in the first game pitching six
innings and not giving up an earned run.
Delaware will be back in action on Saturday as the Hens
take on Vermont in a doubleheader in the Delaware Diamond at
11 a.m.
