Continues Offensive Explosion as Delaware
Field Hockey Defeats James Madison, 2-1 in
Overtime
HARRISONBURG,
VA-- (Oct. 10, 2004) Amanda Warrington
(Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) recorded her
fifth straight game with a goal, pushing
the 15th-ranked University of Delaware
field hockey team over James Madison 2-1
in double overtime Friday night in the
Hens' Colonial Athletic Association
opener.
Warrington's
goal came at 13:41 in the first half on an
unassisted to give the Hens (7-4, 1-0CAA)
an early lead.
James
Madison (2-10, 0-1 CAA) answered back with
a goal of their own by Lindzi Hoffman
assisted by Allissa Santana at 22:07 to
tie the score.
In
the second overtime, All-American Jessi
Balmer (Telford, PA/Christopher Dock)
recorded the game-winner at 9:08 from an
assist by Katie Evans.
Megan
Allen (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville)
posted seven saves for the Hens who
outshot James Madison 15-13.
Delaware
will finish up a three-game road trip by
facing CAA foe Virginia Commonwealth on
October 3 at 1 p.m.
