Erica LaBar (New Castle, DE/William Penn)
scored the only goal for the University of
Delaware's field hockey team eight minutes
into overtime as the Blue Hen's defeated
the University of Louisville 1-0 in the
consolation game of the Championship
Tournament held at Michigan State on
Sunday, August 29.
A two-time
STX/NFCHCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region
selection LaBar recorded her 24th career
goal to defeat Louisville, despite the
Hens being outshot 9-7. Delaware
goalkeeper Megan Allen (Virginia Beach,
VA/Kempsville) recorded her sixth career
shutout and posted five saves.
Delaware
improves to 1-1 while Louisville drops to
0-2. The Blue Hens return home to face
Monmouth University on September 1 at 7
p.m. in their home opener at Rullo
Stadium.
