Amanda Warrington Extends Hot Streak, Pushing Delaware Past Rutgers 1-0 in Field Hockey

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (Sept. 29, 2004) -- The 15th-ranked University of Delaware field hockey team relied on the stick of sophomore Amanda Warrington (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) to push them over Rutgers 1-0 Wednesday afternoon.

Warrington (at right) has now scored in each of the last three games for the Hens, posting four goals in less than a week of play.

Warrington's goal came at 4:12 off an assist by the team's leading scorer Lauren Carr (West Chester, PA/Downingtown).

Megan Allen (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville) played all 70 minutes in goal for the Hens, stopping six shots to record the team's fifth shutout of the season. Delaware was outshot by Rutgers 10-8.

All-American Erica LaBar (New Castle, DE/William Penn) would see the Hens' only other shot on goal for the night, being stopped by Scarlet Knight goalkeeper Kristin Van Rooij, who would not face a penalty corner all night.

Delaware, which is now 6-4 on the season, face James Madison University on Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m.
