Records Fourth Shutout By Defeating
Temple, 5-0
NEWARK, DE
(Sept. 22, 2004) -- The 14th-ranked
University of Delaware field hockey team
followed the lead of Amanda Warrington
(Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) (right), who
recorded the first multiple goal game of
her career, to record its fourth shutout
of the season with a 5-0 win over Temple
Wednesday night at Rullo
Stadium.
Warrington
began the game's scoring in the first half
at 13:13 by recording the first of two
goals. She was followed by Lauren Carr
(West Chester, PA/Downingtown) at 14:52
with Molly Burke (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug)
picking up the assist for the first point
of her career. Warrington ended the first
half's scoring at 17:50 off an assist by
Katie Evans (Newton Square, PA/Villa Maria
Academy) to give the Blue Hens a 3-0
halftime lead.
All-American
Erica LaBar (New Castle, DE/William Penn)
continued Delaware's scoring in the second
half on a penalty corner at 60:09 with
assists going to Evans and Leah Geib
(Schwenksville, PA/Souderton). Jessi
Balmer (Telford, PA/Christopher Dock)
rounded out the games scoring at 64:58 as
the Blue Hens outshot the Owls,
19-7.
Megan
Allen (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville)
posted her fourth shutout of the season
stopping seven shots while Temple goalie
Erin Conroy stopped 9.
Delaware,
which is now 5-3 on the season, will host
Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 26 at 1
p.m. at Rullo Stadium.
