MD-- The No. 18 University of Delaware
field hockey team recorded its ninth
shutout of the 2004 season by defeating
Towson University Saturday, 1-0, in the
final game of the regular
season.
Delaware
finishes the regular season in third place
in the Colonial Athletic Association with
an overall record of 13-6 and a conference
record of 5-2, while Towson ends its
season 6-14 and 0-7 in the CAA.
Amanda
Warrington (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) (at
right) scored the game-winner for Delaware
in the second half unassisted at the 40:51
mark. She finishes the regular season tied
for the team lead in goals with nine,
along with Erica LaBar (New Castle,
DE/William Penn).
Megan
Allen (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville)
recorded six saves for Delaware while
Christina Armer stopped three shots for
the Tigers, who outshot the Hens
8-7.
Delaware
travels to Williamsburg, VA on October 6
to take on second-seed Old Dominion in the
first round of the CAA Tournament held at
top-seed William & Mary. Game time is
set for 2:30 p.m.
