Warrington,
Deimler Score Twice as Delaware Field
Hockey Shutout VCU, 4-0
RICHMOND,
VA (Oct. 3, 2004) -- The No. 15 ranked
University of Delaware field hockey team
recorded it's sixth shutout of the season
after defeating Virginia Commonwealth on
Sunday, 4-0. The Blue Hens are currently
undefeated in Colonial Athletic
Association play.
Amanda
Warrington (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen -
at right) became the teams
leading scorer by recording her seventh
goal of the season, surpassing Lauren Carr
(West Chaster, PA/Downingtown) who has
six. Six of Warrington's seven goals on
the season have come in the last five
games.
Warrington
began the first half recording her first
goal unassisted at 27:51. Amber Deimler
(Hershey, PA/Hershey) followed recording
her first goal of the game, her first of
the season, at 33:50 off an assist from
Carr.
In
the second half, Warrington posted her
second unassisted goal of the game at
51:38 and also assisted on a second
Deimler goal coming at 60:53 that rounded
out the game's scoring and gave Deimler
her first multiple goal game of her
career.
Erica
LaBar (New Castle, DE/William Penn)
recorded two defensive saves while
goalkeeper Megan Allen (Virginia Beach,
VA/Kempsville) saved six shots on her own,
as Delaware outshot the Rams,
13-7.
Alyssa
Collis posted a defensive save for VCU as
goalkeeper Becca Leuzzi stopped eight
before leaving the game at 60:53, allowing
Brittany LoVullo to take over and tally a
save of her own.
Delaware,
which is now 7-4 on the season (3-0 CAA),
returns home on October 8 to face William
& Mary on Rullo Field at 7
p.m.
