Field Hockey Tri-Captain Leah Geib Named
Colonial Athletic Association Player of
the Week
RICHMOND,
VA&emdash; (Sept. 20, 2004) University of
Delaware senior tri-captain Leah Geib
(Schwenksville, PA/Souderton) received her
first Colonial Athletic Association Player
of the Week honor Monday after posting two
assists against Saint Joseph's on
September 17 and adding two goals against
second-ranked Maryland on September 19.
The Blue Hens split their two games this
weekend, defeating the Hawks, 4-1, and
falling to Maryland, 4-3.
The
weekly award was the second for Geib, who
was named the American East Rookie of the
Week on September 24, 2001.
Geib
has been named to the CoSIDA/Verizon
District II At-Large Academic Team, the
NFHCA Division I Academic Squad, and was
last year's CAA Field Hockey
Scholar-Athlete after being named to the
conference's Academic Honor Roll for the
third straight year. On the field she is a
two-time STX/NFHCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region
selection and a two-time CAA Second Team
All Conference player. Additionally, Geib
was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team
in 2003.
One
of three captains on the 2004 squad, Geib
places in the top 10 in five of six CAA
offensive categories as a defensive player
for the Hens. She has four goals and two
assists for 10 points this season, tying
her for second on the team in points,
goals, and assists.

14 Delaware, which is 4-3 on the season,
hosts Temple University at Rullo Stadium
on Wednesday, September 22 at 7
p.m.
