Delaware Field Hockey Tri-Captain Leah Geib Named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week

RICHMOND, VA&emdash; (Sept. 20, 2004) University of Delaware senior tri-captain Leah Geib (Schwenksville, PA/Souderton) received her first Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week honor Monday after posting two assists against Saint Joseph's on September 17 and adding two goals against second-ranked Maryland on September 19. The Blue Hens split their two games this weekend, defeating the Hawks, 4-1, and falling to Maryland, 4-3.

The weekly award was the second for Geib, who was named the American East Rookie of the Week on September 24, 2001.

Geib has been named to the CoSIDA/Verizon District II At-Large Academic Team, the NFHCA Division I Academic Squad, and was last year's CAA Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete after being named to the conference's Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year. On the field she is a two-time STX/NFHCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection and a two-time CAA Second Team All Conference player. Additionally, Geib was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team in 2003.

One of three captains on the 2004 squad, Geib places in the top 10 in five of six CAA offensive categories as a defensive player for the Hens. She has four goals and two assists for 10 points this season, tying her for second on the team in points, goals, and assists.

No. 14 Delaware, which is 4-3 on the season, hosts Temple University at Rullo Stadium on Wednesday, September 22 at 7 p.m.
