Delaware vs.
Maryland
Sept. 21, 1999
Maryland 4, Delaware 0
COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Rachel Hiskins
scored two second-half goals and assisted on another tally
as No. 4 Maryland shutout Delaware, 4-0, in field hockey
action at Artificial Turf Field Tuesday night.
Senior goalkeeper Kelly Ottati's
12 saves kept Delaware in the game for much of the night,
despite being outshot badly. The Terps (8-1) outshot
Delaware, 29-3, for the game and held a 15-1 advantage in
penalty corners.
Dina Rizzo's tally midway through the
first half was the only score before halftime, giving
Maryland a 1-0 lead at the intermission. Ottati recorded six
of her saves in the first half.
Caroline Walter scored just 2:05 into the
second half, however, to make it a 2-0 game. Hiskins then
recorded goals with 17:03 and 6:30 remaining in the game to
give the Terps some insurance.
Delaware, which dropped out of the Top 20
poll earlier in the day, fell to 3-3 on the season with the
loss.
The Hens continue their brutal schedule
stretch Friday night against Northeastern, the only
non-ranked opponent in the six-game span. The America East
opener for both teams will be the first game under the
lights on the UD campus and gets under way at 7
p.m.
