Delaware vs.
Penn
Oct. 5, 1999
Delaware 1, Penn 0
PHILADELPHIA -- Katie Wirth
scored the game's only goal and Kelly Ottati recorded
her third shutout of the season as Delaware defeated Penn,
1-0, Tuesday night at Franklin Field.
Wirth, a senior from Fallston, MD, scored
with 12:40 remaining in the first half. The unassisted goal
was her first of the season and the fourth of her
career.
Ottati, a senior from Hampton Bays, NY,
did the rest, recording four of her five saves in the second
half as the Blue Hens (4-7) protected their one-goal
lead.
Alison Friedman recorded 10 saves for
Penn (1-6) to keep the Quakers in the game. Delaware held a
12-6 advantage in shots and a 10-5 advantage in corners, but
Friedman stood in the way of an insurance goal.
The win snapped Delaware's six-game
losing streak, the longest in school history. Penn has now
lost five straight.
The Blue Hens continue their three-game
road trip Thursday night at St. Joseph's. Game time is 7
p.m.
