TOWSON, MD -- Senior Kelly
Ottati had 15 saves, including 12 in the second half, as
Delaware shutout Towson, 2-0, in field hockey action Friday
afternoon at Minngean Stadium.
The shutout was the fifth of the season
for the senior from Hampton Bays, NY. She has allowed just
two goals in the last five games (350 minutes).
Delaware (7-8, 2-2) got on the board when
senior Melissa Molloy scored off a penalty corner
with 7:24 remaining in the first half. Molloy's second goal
of the season came with helpers by Sara Hills and
Megan Fortunato.
The Blue Hens took a 2-0 lead when Molloy
fed Juli Byrd for Byrd's sixth goal of the season and
second in as many games 7:13 into the second
half.
Towson (3-10, 1-3) outshot Delaware,
20-7, for the game. The Tigers held a 14-3 advantage in
shots in the second half when Ottati came up big.
Delaware will host Hofstra Sunday at 12
noon at Rullo Stadium as a part of Homecoming Weekend
festivities.
