Barger scored her third goal of the season to lift
Delaware past Vermont, 1-0, in America East field hockey
action Sunday afternoon.
Barger, a native of Springfield, VA,
scored the only goal of the game 13:50 into the contest off
of a loose ball scramble in front of the cage.
Delaware (5-8, 1-2 America East)
dominated play throughout, holding a 22-5 advantage in shots
and a 19-6 advantage in penalty corners. However, Catamount
goaltender Holly Colberg kept Vermont (1-10, 0-3) in the
game by recording 17 saves on the day. Delaware senior
Kelly Ottati recorded five saves in net. It was the
fourth shutout of the season for the native of Hampton Bays,
NY.
Four of Delaware's five wins this season
have come via shutout.
The win wrapped up a three-game road trip
for Delaware. The Blue Hens host backyard-rival West Chester
at Rullo Stadium Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
