Blue Hens win crucial America East match

NEWARK, DE -- Sophomore Jessica Breault scored off a breakaway 5:57 into overtime to lift the University of Delaware over Hofstra University 2-1 in America East field hockey action Friday night at Rullo Stadium.

The Blue Hens got on the board early as freshman Jesse Balmer knocked in a Leah Geib feed.with 16:02 remaining in the first half.

The Pride (9-7, 3-4 America East) answered back 4:45 into the second half, when Allison Barnett netted an assist from Shannon Watson.

Breault's second goal of the season broke the stalemate allowing Delaware (10-6, 4-3 America East) to claim sole possession of fourth place in the conference with the win.

The Blue Hens will be back in action Sunday, when they travel to take on Towson University at 1 p.m.
