Delaware drops second straight conference match.

NEWARK, DE -- Despite out-shooting No. 17 Northeastern University, 15-4, the University of Delaware was unable to overcome an early two-goal deficit and lost it's second straight America East conference game, 2-1.

Northeastern (7-1, 3-0 America East) jumped on the board with 17:06 remaining in the first half, when sophomore Sara Webber netted a rebound off the post. In the second half, junior Fior Arrindell scored the Huskies, second goal off a penalty corner with 23:37 remaining in the game.

The 20th-ranked Blue Hens did manage to get on the board with 5:29 left in the game, as junior Kim Wagaman (Oley, PA/Oley Valley Regional) scored off a pass from senior Juli Byrd (Pocomoke, MD/Pocomoke).

With the assist, Juli Byrd tallied her seventh point of the weekend, and her 17th of the season. She now has 76 career points, just one shy of her sister Jodi Byrd, who ranks ninth on the all-time UD scoring list.

With the loss, the Blue Hens drop to 2-2 in the America East conference, and 6-3 for the season.

Delaware's next game will be at West Chester, Wednesday October 3, at 4 p.m.
